YouTuber goes viral after finding a Grammy belonging to Roddy Ricch but the Rapper alleges Vlogger tried to extort him for $50k to get it back.
Recently we’ve seen resellers branch out from only selling sneakers to flipping anything they can profit from. While expanding operations many have started vlogging their flipping escapades for viral content. On November 29, vlogger Prieto Hunter uploaded a video after purchasing an abandoned storage unit. Inside the unit was a Grammy for “Racks In The Middle” belonging to rapper Roddy Ricch.
Roddy won the Grammy at the 2019 Grammy Awards for the track featuring Nipsey Hussle and DJ Mustard.
Hunter’s video instantly went viral and in an update, the vlogger wanted to “work something out” with Roddy to return it. Soon after the blogger alleges things got hectic for him and his life was disrupted. After making several videos about the Grammy Hunter, he began to receive threats.
However, Roddy Ricch jumped online to tell his side of the story and alleges the vlogger erroneously attempted to extort him for the award.
“First he asked me for an AP,” Roddy said while laughing. “Then he asked for $50,000. So it was never about ‘Oh we’re going to do it on just the strength of trying to get it back to you’ and all that type of s**t. It was more so about a n***a trying to get some clout off it or a n***a trying to basically extort me for $50,000.”
To make matters worse, Roddy says he initially offered a $10k reward, which Hunter refused, requesting $50k and demanding the rapper sleep on the idea. Perhaps Hunter forgot what the award meant to the City of Los Angeles following Nip’s passing.
Roddy even revealed he takes the award with him when he records because of what it means to him.
Hunter eventually uploaded a video inside a police station returning the Grammy, furthering his clout chase. As a member of Roddy’s team picks up the Grammy, Hunter explains that Roddy refused to even film a video with him returning the award.
You can watch Roddy explain how a car accident landed the award in storage below.
